Qatar Airways increases frequency of flights to four African destinations
Global major airline Qatar Airways announced on Monday that it has increased the frequency of its services to four of its destinations in Africa, including one in South Africa. The destinations concerned are Tunis in Tunisia, Dar-es-Salaam/Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Entebbe in Uganda, and, in South Africa, Durban (via Maputo in Mozambique). Increased service frequencies to other destinations on other continents were also announced.
The number of services to Durban has been increased from five a week to seven a week. For Entebbe, the increase was from seven to 11 each week. For Dar-es-Salaam/Kilimanjaro, the number of weekly flights has gone from three to seven. And for Tunis, the increase was from 10 to 12.
“Qatar Airways’ vast network of global destinations is complemented with robust flight frequencies for the benefit of our passengers,” affirmed Qatar chief commercial officer Thierry Antinori. “The new additions further reflect our commitment to fostering worldwide connectivity and elevating passengers’ travel experience with our award-winning hub, Hamad International Airport [Doha] – voted World’s Best Airport and World’s Best Airport Shopping by Skytrax in 2024. At Qatar Airways, we take pride in offering unparalleled services, and with the peak [northern] summer season approaching, we are pleased to fulfil the ever-increasing demand for air travel with accessible and convenient flight schedules.”
The other destinations to which Qatar had increased its weekly frequencies are, in Europe, Amsterdam (seven to 11), Larnaca in Cyprus (seven to 10), London Heathrow (49 to 56), and Madrid (14 to 17). However, if the number of flights between Doha and Madrid that are jointly operated by Qatar and Iberia are included, the number of weekly Madrid frequencies has increased from 21 to 24.
In the Middle East, Qatar’s weekly frequencies to Damascus, Syria, have increased from three to 14, while those to Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) have gone up from 21 to 35. In Asia, weekly frequencies to Tokyo Narita have risen from 11 to 14.
